Give Kids the Joy of Reading

Book Donation Guidelines

WePAC believes that a love of reading is the foundation for lifelong learning. By donating books, you help us create collections that inspire joy, reflect our students’ lives, and show children their stories matter. Below are our guidelines to ensure donations meet WePAC’s values.

What to Donate

  • Wish List: We prioritize books from our curated wish list, shaped by input from students, team leaders, and Penn Libraries Community Engagement.

  • Grade Levels: Primarily K–4 (picture books, early readers, early fiction, nonfiction) with some 5th–8th grade titles accepted.

  • Condition: New or gently used books only — no books that are marked “discard,” damaged, moldy, or have personal inscriptions. If you’d gift it to a child you know, it’s good for WePAC.

  • Types of Books: Fiction and nonfiction; no encyclopedias, reference books, or religious texts. We especially seek books featuring diverse characters that reflect our students. Examples include: Ada Twist, Scientist (Andrea Beaty), Sulwe (Lupita Nyong’o), Elephant & Piggie (Mo Willems), Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Jeff Kinney), and nonfiction on topics like animals and natural disasters.
